1. Introductions, apologies and substitutions
There were no apologies.
2. Inquiry into the provision of affordable housing
2.1 Home Builders Federation and Royal Town Planning Institute
The Committee heard evidence from Dr Roisin Willmott from the Royal Town Planning Institution, Richard Price from the Home Builders Federation and Andrew Crompton from Persimmon Homes.
The Home Builders Federation agreed to provide a note on the following:
Their view on what they would like included in the forthcoming Housing Bill;
An update on the issue of the availability of land which has planning permission but isn’t currently being used to build homes on; and
A note on the work being carried out in mid and north wales on the delivery of affordable housing, especially within the strategic re-generation area of north wales.
2.2 Welsh Local Government Association
The Committee heard evidence from Steve Thomas, Cllr Dyfed Edwards (via video link), Craig Mitchell and Sue Finch from the WLGA.
2.3 Welsh Government
The Committee heard evidence from Huw Lewis AM, Minister for Housing Regeneration and Heritage, Ceri Breeze, Head of Housing Directorate and Rhidian Jones, Senior Affordable Housing Officer.
